What is PartSpark?

PartSpark is a modern manufacturing platform that connects designers and engineers with Australia's best manufacturing partners. We specialize in custom sheet metal fabrication including laser cutting, CNC folding, powder coating, and more. Our platform provides instant quotes, transparent pricing, and fast turnaround times.

How do I get started?

Simply create a free account, upload your design files (DXF, DWG, STEP, IGES, or SVG), select your material and finish preferences, and you'll receive an instant quote. No minimum order quantities – order as few as one part or scale to thousands.

Is there a minimum order quantity?

No! We have no minimum order quantity. Whether you need a single prototype or a production run of thousands, we can help. Our intelligent pricing system automatically applies volume discounts starting from as few as two parts.

File Uploads & Design

What file formats do you accept?

We accept DXF, DWG, STEP, IGES, and SVG file formats for 2D parts. For 3D parts and assemblies, we accept STEP, IGES, STL, and Parasolid formats. For best results with 3D files, use STEP or IGES formats.

Do you check my designs for manufacturing issues?

Yes! The PartSpark platform evaluates your designs at upload time to check for common manufacturing pitfalls such as warping, floating elements, and impossible bends. Better than just warning you, we also show you how to fix it. Our Design for Manufacturing (DFM) analysis helps ensure your parts can be manufactured successfully.

Can you help with design modifications?

Absolutely. If we identify any manufacturability concerns with your design, our team will contact you with suggested modifications. We can also provide design assistance for an additional fee. Contact our engineering team to discuss your project requirements.

Pricing & Quotes

How does your pricing work?

PartSpark uses a transparent, algorithm-based pricing system that calculates quotes in real-time based on geometry complexity, material selection, quantity, and current manufacturing capacity. Our pricing includes all manufacturing costs, quality inspection, and standard packaging. There are no hidden fees or setup charges.

Do you offer volume discounts?

Yes! Our intelligent pricing system automatically applies volume discounts starting from as few as two parts. The discount increases with order quantity and applies to parts cut from the same material. You'll see the discounted pricing in your instant quote.

Are there any setup fees or minimum charges?

No setup fees or hidden charges. The price you see in your quote is the final price, including all manufacturing, inspection, and standard packaging costs. The only additional costs would be for optional services like expedited production or special certifications.

What materials do you offer?

PartSpark stocks an enormous range of materials including:

  • Aluminium (5052, 6061, 3003, 7075)
  • Mild Steel (G350 galvanized, CRS, HRS, Zincanneal)
  • Stainless Steel (304, 316, 430)
  • Carbon Fiber (coming soon)
  • Timber (coming soon)

All materials are sourced from certified local Australian suppliers with full traceability.

What thicknesses are available?

We stock sheet metal from 0.5mm to 20mm+ depending on the material. Common thicknesses include 0.8mm, 1.0mm, 1.2mm, 1.5mm, 2.0mm, 2.5mm, 3.0mm, 4.0mm, 5.0mm, 6.0mm, 8.0mm, 10.0mm, and 12.0mm. Custom thicknesses available upon request.

Can I get material certificates?

Yes! Material certificates and traceability documentation are available upon request for all materials. We maintain material certificates from our suppliers and can provide them with your order for an additional fee.

Production & Lead Times

What are your lead times?

Standard lead times range from 5-10 business days depending on material, finish, and quantity. Rush production is available for urgent orders with lead times as short as 24-48 hours. You'll see the estimated delivery date in your quote.

Can I expedite my order?

Yes! We offer expedited production for urgent orders. Contact our team to discuss rush timelines and pricing. Express options are available for faster turnaround, typically 2-3 business days depending on your requirements.

How will I know the status of my order?

You'll receive email notifications at each stage of production (order confirmed, in production, quality inspection, shipped). You can also track your order status in real-time through your PartSpark dashboard.

Quality & Tolerances

What are your standard tolerances?

Our standard tolerances are:

  • Linear dimensions: ± 0.1mm
  • Bend angles: ± 1°
  • Hole diameters: ± 0.05mm
  • Flatness: 0.2mm per 100mm

Tighter tolerances are available upon request with inspection reports.

Do you inspect every part?

Yes! Every single part undergoes final inspection before packaging. We verify dimensions, check for surface defects, confirm bend angles, and ensure all features meet your specifications. Non-conforming parts never leave our facility.

Can I request inspection reports?

Absolutely. First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR), material certificates, and detailed dimensional reports are available upon request for an additional fee. These are particularly useful for regulated industries or critical applications.

What if I receive a defective part?

Contact us immediately with photos of the issue. We'll review your case within 24 hours and either remake the part or issue a full refund. We also cover return shipping for defective parts. Our defect rate is less than 0.5% across all orders.

Finishes & Services

What finishing options do you offer?

We offer a comprehensive range of finishes including:

  • Powder Coating (various colors)
  • Wet Painting
  • Anodizing (Type II and III)
  • Zinc Plating
  • Chromate Conversion Coating
  • Deburring and Edge Finishing

Do you offer fastener insertion?

Yes! We can install PEM fasteners, rivnuts, threaded inserts, and other hardware. Simply specify your requirements in the order notes or contact our team for assistance.

Can you weld or assemble parts?

Yes! We offer welding, spot welding, and assembly services. Contact our team to discuss your assembly requirements and we'll provide a custom quote.

Payment & Shipping

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), PayPal, bank transfer, and purchase orders. For qualified customers, we also offer Net 30 payment terms for orders over $1,000.

Do you ship internationally?

Currently, we primarily ship within Australia. International shipping is available on a case-by-case basis for larger orders. Contact our team to discuss international shipping options.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping costs are calculated based on package size, weight, and destination. You'll see the shipping cost in your quote before placing an order. We offer standard and express shipping options throughout Australia.

Account & Support

Do I need an account to get a quote?

You can explore the platform and upload files to see preliminary pricing without an account, but you'll need to create a free account to receive detailed quotes and place orders.

Can I add team members to my account?

Yes! Business accounts can add multiple team members, set up approval workflows, and manage billing centrally. This is perfect for companies with multiple engineers or designers using the platform.
